Dan Paddy Andy Festival
The Dan Paddy Andy Festival celebrates the last of the great Irish matchmakers, Dan Paddy Andy O’Sullivan (1899 – 1966). The festival is staged in a totally rural setting at Lyreacrompane in the Stacks Mountains of Co. Kerry. The entertainment goes on for 4 days over the August Bank Holiday Weekend with open air platform and marquee dancing attracting large crowds.Lyreacrompane is synonymous with John B Keane so stories and drama also feature over the weekend.
The Dan Paddy Andy Trail offers a guided walk and then there’s the dog show and entertainment for children. The 15th Dan Paddy Andy Festival 2012 is a rural festival set in the Stacks Mountains of North Kerry.
On Friday there is the official opening followed by drama, storytelling and a ceilí with the Donie Nolan Ceilí Band. Saturday’s events include a dog show, magician, rambling house show and marquee dancing to the Singing Jarvey. On Sunday there will be platform dancing with Mike Condon followed by Catriona & High Country and Declan Nerney & his Band in the festival marquee. The final day will include a bog walk & turf cutting experience, and afterwards platform dancing to Stevie Donegan followed by Mike Fitzgerald & Southern Pride. So come along for a great weekend of music, dancing and craic!
