Listowel has a strong tradition of good industrial employment and is home to such international companies as Kerry Ingredients Ireland Ltd. and Spectra Laboratories. Over one thousand people work in manufacturing in the town.

[ Land and Buildings ]

A modern 16,682sq ft manufacturing facility is available at the Listowel Business Park. The facility which has been constructed to the most exacting standard, is located on 3.14 acres within the Park. It has been designed to afford the maximum flexibility, with provision for up to 100% expansion, and is suitable for international manufacturing, teleservice, software development industries or office accommodation.

Other possible locations available include a 4,000 sq ft office type facility as well as 12 acres at Listowel Business Park.

[ Telecommunications ]
Listowel is connected to the most modern telecommunications infrastructure by two diversely routed fibre optic cables into the town. One of these cables is routed via Limerick and the other in totally separate route via Tralee. Both fibre routes are part of Eircom’s national infrastructure.

Spectra

The exchange in Listowel is a digital exchange used to supply technologies like Leased Lines, Frame Relay, ISDN, ATM and voice and packet switching. Companies such as the Listowel headquartered Spectra Laboratories and Kerry Ingredients utilise this infrastructure to connect to their networks all over the world.


[ Water - Effluent ]
The town’s water supply is taken from a local source and augmented by the North East Kerry Regional Water Supply Scheme. A sewerage treatment plant and drainage network for the town has recently been completed.

[ Energy ]
Supply voltages are 110kv, 38kv, 10kv and 220/380 volts at 50hz. Two of the largest power generating stations in the country are situated within 15 miles of the town.

[ Transport and Shipping ]

Airport Facilities: Kerry Airport at Farranfore is 30 miles from Listowel and provides direct flights to and from London and Dublin. Shannon Airport, 60 miles from Listowel, is Ireland's major International transatlantic airport, where scheduled services are offered to New York, Boston and Atlanta with direct connections to fifteen other major U.S. cities.

Kerry Ingredients

Sea Port: Shipping requirements are catered for by a large number of companies who provide scheduled container services, both roll-on/roll-off and lift-on/lift-off, which operate from most Irish ports. There are direct sailings to Britain, Europe, the United States and Canada. The port of Foynes, one of the largest deepwater ports in Europe, is located 25 miles from Listowel on the Shannon Estuary.

[ Road and Rail ]
Bus Eireann provides passenger and freight services. Daily bus services are available to Limerick, Tralee, Cork and other major urban centres. A comprehensive range of road freight services, including bulk, container, refrigerated transport and heavy haulage facilities are available both from Bus Eireann and private licensed hauliers.

There are regular train services from Casement Station, Tralee to Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Rosslare, Waterford and Killarney. These trains provide both passenger and freight services.

A comprehensive and regular train service to Dublin is available from Limerick. This service is used frequently by Listowel commuters to the Capital.
