Housing ]
The progressive building programmes of both private construction
companies and the local authority, ensures that a wide selection
of quality houses is available to meet the requirements of the town's
residents. Over 300 houses have been built in the town in the last
five years and there is a wide range of affordable housing available.
A number of housing developments are under construction and there
are some 58 acres zoned residential available for private housing.

Health Services ]
Listowel
has a full range of public and private health services. There
is a Community Hospital in the town, together with both private
and public retirement homes. Tralee General Hospital and the Bons
Secours Hospital are located nearby, and there are many general
practitioners, dental surgeons and pharmacists in the area.

Shopping and Dining ]
Listowel is a bustling market town and offers a wide variety of
top quality shops from the world of Irish and International fashion
to local crafts, including pottery, candles, jewellery, lace and
knitwear.
The attractive streetscapes with their unique 19th century plaster-work
radiate from the towns celebrated square and make shopping in
Listowel a truly memorable experience.
Having spent the day exploring the many shops in the town, enjoy
a meal in the many excellent restaurants which offer a variety
of dishes to choose from. Listowels award winning restaurants

Education ]
A
historic centre of learning, Listowel has three primary schools
- Scoil Realta na Maidine (boys), Presentation Primary (girls)
and Gaelscoil Liostuathail (mixed). At second level there is also
excellent choice, St. Michaels College (boys), Presentation
Secondary (girls) and Listowel Community College (mixed) offer
a comprehensive programme of academic and practical subjects to
Leaving Cert with facilities for adult education also available.
In addition to the above there are education centres to cater
for students with special needs.
[Third
Level Education ]
The Institute of Technology, Tralee, just 17 miles away, has significantly
developed its range of programmes in recent years, and there are
many opportunities to achieve degree qualifications. At present,
nearly all students entering courses through the CAO system in
Business Studies and Science/Computing have the opportunity to
proceed to Degree level in IT, Tralee, as do a significant number
of Engineering and Construction Students. University of Limerick,
which offers a full range of degree courses, is 45 miles from
Listowel.
FAS - the
Industrial Training and Recruitment Authority, has a
Training Centre in Tralee offering a variety of FAS services to
the North Kerry area. A full range of apprenticeship and advanced
skills training may also be undertaken at the centre.
