[ Golf ]

Listowel Golf Course is located alongside the splendidly scenic surroundings of the River Feale. The breathtaking scenery and the immaculately manicured greens ensure a real test of golf which can’t be omitted from any golfers’ itinerary.

Just nine miles from Listowel is the world renowned Ballybunion Golf Course which has hosted such celebrities as President Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. Tom Watson is a regular visitor to Ballybunion and served as Club Captain in the year the Club hosted the Irish Open.

[ Pitch & Putt ]
Listowel Pitch and Putt course is situated in the Town Park. During the August Bank Holiday weekend the club holds its very successful open and scratch cup. This course is of a very high standard and in 1984 hosted the Ladies All Ireland Stroke Play Championships.

[ Walking ]
Town ParkListowel Town hosts an interesting Heritage Trail, with accompanying map available. This guided tour features all the historical and scenic points of interest. The River Walk will take you from the centre of Listowel along the banks of the River Feale to Listowel Golf Club. The splendid scenery around the town leads itself to refreshing walks with varied distances which are enjoyed by the very active Listowel Walking Club.

[ Angling ]
Listowel is situated on the River Feale which is well known for its salmon and trout fishing. The local club, North Kerry Anglers Association, has carried out major works on the river, and as a result there is an addition of three new salmon pools which means that good quality angling can be had regardless of the weather conditions.

[ Horse Riding ]

Listowel RacesListowel Equestrian Centre is a modern centre which has both indoor and outdoor arenas, with horses to suit all levels and abilities. Located just one mile outside Listowel is the newly opened ‘All Weather’ Cross Country Course, a championship style flood lit course.

[The Lartigue Monorail]
First opened on March 1, 1888, the Listowel-Ballybunion Railway was the first monorailway in the world. The railway has about 550 metres of monorail track, three switches, two turntables and three platforms representing Listowel, Lisselton and Ballybunion. [ Tennis ]
Listowel Tennis Club has two tarmacadam based courts in the Town Park, available to locals and visitors alike.

[ Sports ]
Sports facilities for basketball, badminton, squash, racquetball, handball and indoor soccer are available at the Sports Complex, located in the Town Park. The Complex will also have a state of the art gymnasium.
Ballyloughran Leisure and Activity Centre, just five miles from Listowel offers a range of both indoor and outdoor facilities including swimming, jacuzzi, gymnasium and steamroom.

[ Clubs ]
Listowel has many active and progressive clubs to facilitate all age groups. Gaelic Football, rugby, soccer, tennis, bridge, etc.

[ St. John's Theatre ]
St. John’s features an annual programme of theatre, music and dance, exhibitions, plus an educational programme and annual summer school.

[ Cinema ]
Listowel has a modern twin-cinema complex, which has daily showings of all newly released films.

[ Other Amenities ]
Residents and visitors to the town can relax in the beautiful setting of the town park - 40 acres of parkland. They may also enjoy the golden beaches nearby at Ballybunion.
